Baby yoga (pre-mobile babies)
Bond beautifully at our very special baby massage class.
An ancient tradition, with roots in India and practiced all over the world, baby massage is a rich sensory experience for you and your baby.
Improve your child’s muscle tone and strength, support their body’s natural development and improve your special bond with a baby massage group class or 1:1 session.
Baby massage is a learned skill, which is why these classes are offered in 5 week blocks. Some baby massage strokes can soothe the symptoms of a common cold, others are useful for teething. Over the course, you will learn over 60 strokes and the benefits and uses of each one. Each week we begin with a supportive chat about how you are easing in to life with your new addition, before getting started with the massage. Week by week, we build up the massage routine, until eventually you are able to independently give your child a full body massage. Every session ends with a mindful meditation designed to help you relish every moment of this magical and challenging time.
Baby massage is offered as an in home 1:1 service, as well as group classes.
*please note that trial sessions are not available for in home service.
Baby yoga is a wonderfully interactive class with plenty of song, movement and fun ideas for you to try at home with your little one.
Inspired by the movements and poses of yoga, each class begins with a breathing exercise and a series of gentle stretches for both adults and babies, to warm up the bodies in preparation for class. We either sing an action song together, or give the babies an over-the-clothes massage before the babies practice their “stretch and grow” yoga routine. We learn a baby sign language song, then move on to our standing poses, which involves the babies and the adults stretching and moving together. Our seated poses allow the parents to enjoy deep stretches while engaging and bonding with the babies. We finish each session with some themed sensory play: the babies explore textures, scents, sounds or tastes related to the theme of the class.
Past themes have included “in the garden”, “winter”, “all about me” and “space”.
Remember to look out for our regular special classes for holidays such as Chinese New Year or Halloween!
